Chelsea Lawrence, LMHC

Chelsea Lawrence, Ed.S., LMHC

My name is Chelsea and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and formerly practiced as a school psychologist in the public school system.

I became a therapist because I wanted to help guide others through their difficult times and help others feel less alone. Brené Brown says that people just want to feel seen, heard, and valued and I'm here to give you that nonjudgmental ear to help you feel more connected and grounded. I work with preteens, teens, and adults. We are all “fellow travelers” on this journey of life and I’m here to walk with you while providing psychoeducation in areas you feel stuck and teach you new coping skills to use. As a first-generation American with parents from Central America and the Caribbean, I had to learn how to feel all of my feelings with the help of amazing therapists. As your therapist, I want you to feel comfortable crying, laughing, and being vulnerable with me.

Being a former Division 1 athlete, working in schools, and being a child of immigrants has given me ample experiences with a variety of people from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. In my spare time I enjoy playing pickleball, visiting different countries, exploring Downtown St. Petersburg, or reading my newest Book of the Month selection.

As a Black therapist, I know there aren’t many therapists who look like me, which is why I’m both grateful and honored to be in this position.

I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you!
